Institute of Environmental Change and Society (IECS)

Currently, the CIEE is physically hosted by the Institute of Environmental Change and Society (IECS) at the University of Regina.

IECS provides world-class infrastructure and research expertise in environmental sciences for faculty, students and staff enabling individuals and multidisciplinary groups to conduct cutting-edge scientific research to advance the provincial, national and international research agendas.

Synthesis Centre

To better support our members, we opened a Synthesis Centre and Advanced Training Facilities within the Institute of Environmental Change and Society (IECS) at the University of Regina.

These $15-million, 6,500 sq-ft research facilities are able to host CIEE activities. The CIEE Synthesis Centre includes:

  • 800 sq ft synthesis room, featuring full internet connectivity,

  • 200 sq ft breakout room,

  • 8 work stations computer centre (Linux, with Windows emulation)

  • Statistical expertise courtesy of Dr. Gavin Simpson, IECS’ resident numerical ecologist and one of the maintainers for the R Vegan package.

In addition, UR provides rooms on campus at subsidized rates of $35/day in new UR residence towers, a per-meal food plan, and access to the UR recreational centre

We encourage the use of these facilities for any CIEE Scientific Program, particularly those held during summer when the availability of housing and facilities is greater.
